Phoenix, United States - May 29, 2025 05/28/2025 10:37 pm GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. – According to the Department of Public Safety, a trooper near the L-101 and Broadway Road attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Kia Soul. The driver of the Kia Soul refused to yield to the trooper, and a pursuit was initiated. The trooper disengaged from the pursuit due to the vehicle exiting the mainline and entering surface streets. The trooper observed the car from a distance as it turned onto South Valencia from Broadway Road. As the trooper rounded the corner, he observed that the Kia had collided with a brick wall down the street. The trooper pulled behind the car and awaited additional troopers to arrive before approaching the vehicle. Additional troopers arrived and moved up on the vehicle before taking the three teenage occupants into custody.
