Flights cancelled due to Mount Lewotobi volcano eruption in Bali
Flights were cancelled due to the eruption of Mount Lewotobi volcano in Indonesia.
Authorities confirmed that 32 flights at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali were called off on Wednesday, June 18, following volcanic unrest in the region.
Acting General Manager Wahyudi said: 'There are a total of 12 international departures and five domestic departures with cancelled status due to volcanic activity.'
The international flights included three to Singapore, two each to Melbourne and Brisbane, and one flight each to Adelaide, Sydney, Pudong, Auckland, and Delhi.
For arrivals, 13 international flights and two domestic flights were cancelled by the airline.
Wahyudi added: 'Due to natural events impacting several flight schedules, the airline is offering passengers the option of a refund, rescheduling, or re-routing.
'This helpdesk serves to assist passengers seeking information on their flight status and to facilitate refunds, reschedules, or re-routing arrangements with the airline.'
On Tuesday, the volcano erupted, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of residents and sending a towering ash column 32,000ft into the sky.
The hot ash expanded into a mushroom-shaped cloud visible from cities up to 56 miles from the crater.
The Geological Agency has raised the alert level of the mountain from Level III to Level IV.
