MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver is being recognized for a touching act of kindness that turned a young passenger’s day around.

Jakari E., an MCTS driver, noticed a girl boarding his bus in tears. Without hesitation, he offered a comforting hug, gently asking if she was okay. The brief moment of compassion, captured on video, quickly resonated with viewers across social media.

MCTS highlighted the moment on its official Facebook page, reminding the public that their employees “do so much more than just drive the bus.”

The interaction showcased the positive impact transit workers can have beyond transportation — offering kindness, empathy and community support when it’s needed most.
