Multi-Agency Pursuit Ends With Arrest on Interstate in Kenosha County
KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. — A stolen vehicle investigation that began in the City of Kenosha ended safely Wednesday morning following a coordinated, multi-agency law enforcement response.
According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was originally reported stolen from Martino’s Dry Cleaners after an employee refused to return it. Kenosha Police Department officers were involved in an initial pursuit with the vehicle the previous day.
At approximately 8 a.m., the vehicle was again located in Kenosha County and fled from officers, crossing into Racine County. Deputies with the Racine County Sheriff’s Office later located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit that eventually returned into Kenosha County.
Several Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office deputies positioned themselves along the interstate to assist. A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper deployed spike strips near the 5200 block of Interstate 94. As the driver attempted to avoid the spikes, a Racine County deputy performed a precision immobilization technique, causing the vehicle to crash into the median wall.
Authorities said the driver complied with commands and surrendered without further incident. No injuries were reported.
Body-worn camera and in-car video released by the sheriff’s office shows the moment the fleeing vehicle crashed.
Officials credited strong communication and cooperation between the Kenosha Police Department, Racine County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol and Kenosha County deputies for bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.
