Airline evacuates passenger after suspicious noise is heard from engine
A Chinese airline evacuated passengers after a suspicious noise was heard from the engine during takeoff.
Tianjin Airlines flight GS7833 was preparing to depart from Hohhot Baita International Airport in Inner Mongolia at around 5 pm on July 2 when the incident spooked those onboard.
Reports said a loud rumble was heard during the takeoff roll, prompting the pilots to initiate an emergency stop.
Emergency crews, including firefighters and police, arrived at the scene within three minutes.
Tianjin Airlines said in a statement: 'On July 2, a mechanical failure occurred on the aircraft of Tianjin Airlines flight GS7833. To ensure the absolute safety of the flight, the crew decisively interrupted the takeoff and replaced the aircraft immediately, ultimately ensuring that all passengers arrived at their destination safely.'
Footage from inside the aircraft shows emergency responders gathering on the tarmac before inspecting the plane, was bound for Wuhai City.
The airline added: 'In the future, Tianjin Airlines will continue to strengthen safety management and strive to provide every passenger with safe and reliable travel services.'
FlightRadar24 data showed that the Embraer E190LR plane took off from Hohhot at 11:24 pm and arrived safely in Wuhai at 12:31 am.
No injuries were reported.
