SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — A young male was safely rescued by Santa Cruz Fire Department crews after falling from a cliff near West Cliff Drive and Auburn Avenue on Monday afternoon, officials said.

Firefighters arrived to find the youth stranded on rocks below the cliff. Fortunately, he did not appear injured. Rescue swimmers were deployed and successfully guided the boy off the rocks, escorting him into the water and swimming him back to safety. He was later released to a parent and did not require medical treatment.

Santa Cruz Fire officials issued a reminder urging the public to exercise caution near coastal cliffs, noting that erosion, loose ground and strong winds can make edges unstable. Visitors are encouraged to stay back from cliff edges and obey all posted warnings.
