Impaired Driver Nearly Strikes Tow Truck on Snowy Road
CAMBRIDGE, Ohio — An impaired driver was arrested after nearly striking a tow truck while troopers were handling a crash on snow-covered roads, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred as a trooper from the Cambridge Post was working a single-vehicle crash in hazardous winter conditions. Authorities said a vehicle approached the scene and narrowly missed the front of a tow truck that had flashing emergency lights activated.
The driver then swerved into a nearby private lot and continued moving slowly before the trooper was able to conduct a traffic stop. During the stop, the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for operating a vehicle while impaired.
No injuries were reported, but officials said the situation could have ended far worse given the snowy conditions and the presence of emergency responders on the roadway.
Troopers are reminding motorists that winter driving already requires full attention and caution, and impaired driving significantly increases the risk to drivers, first responders and others on the road.
