Dallas Officers Pull Woman To Safety From Bridge Edge
DALLAS — Dallas police officers intervened early Christmas Eve to save a woman who was attempting to jump from a bridge over a major freeway, officials said.
According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded around 4:40 a.m. on Dec. 24, 2025, to the 100 block of East Camp Wisdom Road after receiving a call about a woman in distress near a bridge.
Senior Cpl. Timothy Griffin and Officer Carlos Gomez arrived on scene and observed the woman seated extremely close to the edge of the bridge above the S.R.L. Thornton Freeway. Recognizing the immediate danger, the officers approached to secure her.
As the woman went over the edge, the officers were able to grab and hold onto one of her arms while she was hanging above the freeway. They maintained physical control of her and requested additional assistance. Sgt. Randall Mays arrived shortly afterward and helped pull the woman safely back over the railing.
Dallas Fire-Rescue transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment. No further details on her condition were released.
Police said the officers placed themselves in imminent danger without hesitation, and their swift, decisive actions likely prevented serious injury or death.
