PORT ORANGE, Fla. — A man was arrested Tuesday after police say he shoplifted from multiple retail businesses and attempted to flee on a bicycle in Port Orange.

According to the Port Orange Police Department, officers received multiple reports on Dec. 30, 2025, that a male suspect had stolen items from several stores. Officer Braden responded to the area and located the suspect, later identified as 50-year-old Clarence Collmar of New Smyrna Beach, attempting to ride away from the scene on a bicycle.

Police said Collmar ignored multiple commands to stop. Officer Braden caught up to him and tackled him off the bicycle, taking him into custody without further incident. Officers recovered several stolen items from Collmar’s pants and backpack.

Collmar was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on two counts of felony theft due to prior convictions, resisting an officer, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains held on a $4,500 bond.
