The U.S. Army made history by achieving its first-ever air-to-air kill using an armed first-person view (FPV) drone during a live demonstration at Fort Rucker.

Above Tabernacle Field, a Skyraider drone equipped with a claymore mine engaged in a fierce drone dogfight, successfully destroying an opposing unmanned aircraft system.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Nate Shea piloted the Skyraider, while Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew Topits controlled the opposing drone.

This milestone occurred ahead of the U.S. Army Unmanned Aircraft Systems Summit and marks a significant advance in drone combat technology.

The event showcases the Army’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into its aerial warfare tactics.
