Fenton Man Arrested After Police Chase, Faces 11 Felonies
GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 37-year-old Fenton man is facing 11 felony charges after leading police on a chase that began with a speeding violation, authorities said.
Grand Blanc Township police said the incident occurred around 8:10 p.m. Aug. 17 when officers attempted to stop Cory Herrick for speeding. Herrick fled on a motorcycle before abandoning it and running on foot, according to police. Officers said he threw a firearm and methamphetamine while fleeing.
Herrick, who is prohibited from possessing firearms, was caught and arrested. Police recovered both the gun and drugs. The department emphasized that while some agencies restrict vehicle pursuits, Michigan law does not prevent them.
“We trust our officers’ judgment, training, and professionalism to know when to pursue — and this time, it took a dangerous person off the street,” Grand Blanc Township police said in a statement.
