A wild elephant pushed open a gate, appearing to search for food in a family's garden.

The jumbo used its trunk to shove the entrance and walked around the front portion of the property in Yunnan, China on November 9.

CCTV footage shows the tusker ambling toward the front door. It moved along the edge of the house, sniffing a clothes drying rack.

The pachyderm had to walk in reverse when the pathway became narrow, until it reached a wider area and left after finding nothing

A resident said: ‘The elephant used its trunk to push open the gate and then slipped away.'

Despite its enormous size, the behemoth moved carefully around the garden, leaving no damage.

Wild Asian elephants are native to the tropical forests of southern Yunnan. This region is the only place in China where the species still roam.
