Three siblings were left stranded at the top of a drop tower ride when it suddenly stopped at a theme park in Brazil.

Beatriz Cristine and her two younger brothers were riding the Big Drop attraction at Beto Carrero, seated together in Penha on November 9.

The four-seater carrying the family had been operating normally as it ascended 328ft (100m) above ground along with other tourists.

However, while the other riders were released as intended while Beatriz and her brothers remained suspended at the top of the Hot Wheels-themed ride.

Footage shows the siblings at the top of the tower. They appeared calm despite the malfunction.

Beatriz said: ‘I was desperate because I did not know if the ride would plummet, start working again, or how much longer we would be up there.'

They were left in the position for almost half an hour before staff successfully rescued them.

No one was injured and Beatriz said they still enjoyed the rest of their visit.

She added: ‘What happened was a sad moment, yes, but I want to reiterate that we love the park. We always live incredible moments there.'
