This footage reportedly shows a Russian Osa-AKM missile system destroying what was said to be a Ukrainian H10 Poseidon reconnaissance drone during an air-defence mission.

The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) said an Osa-AKM crew from the 18th Combined Arms Army of the Dnepr military grouping detected a high-altitude aerial target while carrying out air-defence duties in Kherson Oblast, Ukraine.

Authorities reported that the target was subsequently classified as an H10 Poseidon fixed-wing reconnaissance UAV allegedly conducting aerial surveillance over the left bank of the Dnipro River, with footage posted on November 14.

After detecting and classifying the target, the crew launched a missile that reportedly destroyed the UAV at a distance of about eight kilometres (4.9 miles).

The commander of the anti-aircraft missile battery, identified only by the call sign Kinjal, was quoted as saying: 'The battery operates across the entire Kherson region.

'Recently, we downed this Poseidon UAV. The enemy drone is mostly made of composite materials and contains little to no metal.

'Despite this, the Osa-AKM system can detect enemy UAVs at a distance of 10–20 kilometres (6-12 miles) and reliably destroy such targets at 4–10 kilometres (2.4-6 miles).'

The Russian MoD said several dozen targets had been destroyed in the past month in the region.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
