This is the terrifying moment a pedestrian cheats death after electricity cables EXPLODE in a ball of sparks and fall towards him.

Mana Reangsungnoen, 32, was walking back to his car while using his phone when he passed below the wires in Prachinburi, Thailand.

An electricity box suddenly exploded - causing sparks as the cables drop to the ground. Mana is seen from his car’s dash cam jumping for his life as the high voltage lead comes towards him.

Miraculously, the radio operator was unhurt in the accident caused by Thailand’s notorious overhead cables, which former Microsoft boss Bill Gates criticised earlier this year.

Mana said: ‘’I parked the car then walked over to the radio office and back again. I was coming back when the cables exploded. Some people said it was because I pressed a button on my phone but this could not cause it. I'm sure this wasn’t the cause.

‘’There was heavy rain at the time and there might have been an electrical fault and overheating that caused the wiring to melt. Nobody was injured because I jumped out of the way. I was very lucky. It was scary, my heart was pumping. My car’s camera recorded it all as I had been in the area for work.''

Bill Gates complained in June last year about Thailand’s notoriously dangerous overhead cables that litter almost every street when he posted a picture of them as part of his campaign to improve the world.

He wrote: ''Due to faulty infrastructure, many urban areas suffer from frequent blackouts and power cuts and the electrical grid often doesn’t serve the people who need it most.''
