A woman was rescued after she started walking on metro tracks in Noida near New Delhi, India, on June 28.

The metro officials spotted her and stopped trains from both ends and saved her life.

Officials said the woman had planned to end her life but changed her mind and got on to the ramps along the metro tracks. She may also have been mentally disturbed, they added.

A video of the incident shows the 30-year-old woman walking between Sector 15 and Sector 16 metro stations.

An eyewitness Pankaj Jain, 43, said the woman was spotted by onlookers, who shouted at her from the road below. “She shouted back but we could not understand what she said.”

A senior officer of the Sector 20 police station Manish Saxena said the woman was safely rescued and then let off. “No complaint was filed in this incident,” he said.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which manages security at the metro stations, has taken serious note of the lapse of security that led to the incident.

“CISF officers at DMRC Delhi are looking into it,” it said in a tweet.
