A young sambar deer’s brief appearance at the north Indian city of Chandigarh, created quite an impact among residents of sector 22-C.

The male deer was caught on tape trying to hide behind vehicles. During its brief stay, it also tried to enter a card shop, however, the venture proved unsuccessful.

As news made the rounds, a team of rescuers rushed to the spot to capture the animal.

They approached the deer armed with nets. According to reports, the rescuers didn’t carry a tranquiliser gun with them.

Frightened by the noise made by onlookers, who had gathered in numbers to witness the proceedings, the animal made the rescuers wait for sometime before deciding to walk into the net.

It is expected to be released into the woods adjacent to the Sukhna Lake.

Deer seldom make appearance in public places in Chandigarh. In 2012, a deer had died after being chased by residents. The animal was reportedly hit by a car.
