Storm damages more than 200 homes in northern Thailand
More than 200 homes were damaged after a storm ripped through Bueng Kan, northeastern Thailand on Friday night (April 24).
Terrified residents fled after powerful winds blew down walls and tore off roofs leaving properties in ruins.
Provincial government officers arrived the next morning and surveyed the aftermath of the storm.
In one of the villages, they found 171 houses severely damaged and several more in neigbouring districts.
District sheriff Theerapon Khanpanplerng sent teams to the area to help the locals repair their damaged properties.
Meanwhile, the sub-district governor Thongchai Pongsri said the government office will provide materials for the locals and some aid money to help them rebuild their homes.
He said: "Initially, we will buy the materials and provide a workforce to help with repairs while residents whose houses were severely damaged will receive additional aid money."
