The clumsy moggy clambered onto the wires connected to homes in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on June 16.

However, the fearless feline lost its balance and was left clinging on with its front two paws.

Concerned locals saw the cat and two men waited below with a blanket while a woman on a balcony gently prodded the cat with a bamboo cane, to loosen its grip and prevent it from holding on too long and becoming exhausted.

The cat tumbled down but was caught on the blanket before scampering away in the street.

Resident Leak Mony said the cat was a stray that had climbed into a difficult position.

''It was lucky for the cat that people were around to see that it was in trouble, or it could have been hurt when it fell.''
