Hemet FD responded to reports of a gunshot wound victim in the 900 block of North Buena Vista St, north of Menlo Ave. Arriving units located a victim shot in the head. The victim was unresponsive but breathing. A Mercy Air medical helicopter was requested to airlift the patient to Riverside Community Health Center. AMR transported the victim to Hemet Valley Hospital where an LZ was established for the helicopter. The chopper never transported the patient because just minutes after being loaded on board the patient succumbed to his injuries. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown at this time. Officers were investigating what appeared to be a bordeaux Chevy Malibu located inside the crime scene with the front passenger window shattered. A possible witness or passenger that was sitting on the curb next to the vehicle was being questioned by officers. It's unknown what this subject's involvment with the incident is at this time. Witnesses described possibly two suspects that fled on foot southbound on Buena Vista St after 3 to 4 gunshots were heard It's unknown at this time if any suspect was apprehended by officers.
