Police have seized 1,352kg of marijuana from a warehouse in southern India's Karnataka state.

According to local reports, the contraband was smuggled from Odisha in east India and hidden underground a sheep farm in Lacchu Nayak Tanda, Kalaburagi district, on September 10.

Reports also suggest the police raided the warehouse after receiving a tip-off from drug peddlers.

At least four people have been arrested in connection to this incident.

The arrested have been identified as Jnanashekar, 37, a resident of Gayatrinagar and autorickshaw driver, Siddunath Lavate, 22, of Sindagi taluk in Vijayapura district, Naganath, 39, of Aurad of Bidar district, and Chandrakanth, 34, of Kalagi in Kalaburagi.

According to local reports, on August 30, an officer at Seshadripuram Police Station caught Jnanashekar selling marijuana and seized 2.1 kg from him. During interrogation, Jnanashekar admitted to purchasing marijuana from a peddler, Siddunath Lavate.

Later Lavate admitted to purchasing marijuana from peddlers, Chandrakanth, and his associate Naganath, where police raided and found 1,352kg of marijuana belonging to Chandrakanth.
