Customs officials seize gold worth $179950 from airport in southern India

Customs officials in southern India's Chennai airport seized 2.88 kg (6.3 lbs.) gold worth Rs 1.32 crore (USD 179950) from three passengers from Dubai on October 11.

The passengers arrived in a FlyDubai flight FZ 8517 and IndiGo 6E 8497.

Visuals show the recovered gold bits and gold in the form of paste placed on a table.

All three of the passengers confessed to carrying gold paste bundles concealed in their rectums. Four bundles from each person were recovered. A total of 2.77 kg (6.1 lbs.) of gold was extracted. Three gold bits weighing 116 grams were recovered from their pant pockets.
