A 40-year-old woman has been saved by fire department officials after falling inside a well in southern India's Tamil Nadu state.

The rescue operation was carried out in Kurinjakulam village on September 24.

Footage of the operation shows a fire department official being lowered into the well using thick ropes. He fastens the rope around the woman before she's pulled out of the well to safety.

She has been treated for her injuries and is in a stable condition.

The video of the rescue operation shows fire department officials being lowered into the well with thick ropes.

They then use ropes to bound the woman and pull her out of the well safely.

On being rescued, the officials called emergency ambulance services and got her treated immediately.

Her condition is being said to be stable and has been treated for her injuries.
