Thai driver crashes through shop after pushing accelerator instead of reverse
This is the shocking moment a car smashed through a clothing store after the driver accelerated forward by mistake while parking.
CCTV footage shows a bronze Toyota Corolla smashing into the glass panels of a closed shop in Pathum Thani province, central Thailand on November 3.
Sales assistants and their customers from nearby shops were rushed outside after hearing the loud crash.
They saw the driver, estimated to be 70-years-old, sitting inside the car looking shocked while several pieces of broken glass were scattered on the establishment.
The paramedics helped the old driver out of the vehicle and was given a health check but aside from him, nobody else was hurt from the incident.
Police arrived to investigate the incident and found that the driver was trying to line up the automatic transmission Nissan with the parking space. However, he mistakenly put the gear into drive in instead of reverse then hit the accelerator and panicked.
The cop said: "The old driver used the wrong gear while parking the car. We are still gathering more information but no one was seriously hurt."
The shop owner, Eye, was informed by the police about the incident later that day and said she was glad it was closed for the day or more people could have been hurt.
She said: "I was shocked when I knew my shop was accidentally hit by the car but I'm glad no one was hurt."
