Forest officials apprehend duo for wildlife trafficking in central India

The Forest Department arrested two people involved in wildlife trafficking in central India's Madhya Pradesh on February 14. The incident took place in Ukwa.

A video witnessing the incident features the officials apprehending the duo involved in trading parts of the leopard. The authorities seize the limbs of the wild animal that are a week old from them and assemble them in front of the police station, while the staff beholds the terrible occurrence.

The Waraseoni Forest Department arrested two, identified as Dhashu and Harilal, involved in trafficking wildlife. On search, they recovered four claws of a nearly five-year-old leopard and pangolin shells from them. Furthermore, the accused were interrogated, and they revealed the name of their accomplices, who had fled following the incident.

On further investigation, they unveiled that Devlal's father and his companions bought the limbs of the leopard for about Rs. 50 thousand (USD 688) 15 days ago. Thereafter, they also bought its whiskers and pangolin shells from the accused.

The officials are in search of the absconded, while further investigation into the matter is underway.
