A political leader in Madhya Pradesh, central India, was arrested for their involvement in the black marketing of medical supplies.

Rajesh Maheshwari, leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, was apprehended on May 11 for illegally selling oxygen flow meters.

Footage shows police handling the seized goods which are used to treat COVID-19 patients.

After receiving a tip, police officers disguised themselves as customers and proceeded to buy the oxygen meters.

The meters were sold at 2,200 Indian rupees ($30USD).

After confirming the deal, the black marketers were arrested by the undercover police officers.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, identified as Rajesh Maheshwari, was arrested for black marketing of oxygen flow meters amid the health crisis in central India's Madhya Pradesh on May 11. The incident took place in Ratlam.

A video witnessing the incident features the accused leaving the police station on a bike along with others after receiving his bail. Moreover, the officials seize the oxygen flow meters from his store that he allegedly sold at a higher price. Following this, they keep a check on the items while the others behold the occurrence.

Amid the black marketing of medical supplies during the Covid-19 crisis, an anonymous person complained to the police officials through a helpline number that some people were involved in the black marketing of oxygen flow meters. Following this, the police officials disguised themselves as customers and went over to Maheshwari Medical Agency to buy the oxygen flow meter. The goons were selling one oxygen flow meter which costs around Rs. 2250 (USD 30) at Rs. 4000 (USD 54). Moreover, after confirming the deal and exchanging commodities, the cops caught them red-handed and apprehended Rajesh on the spot.

However, Rajesh Maheshwari was released on bail while an investigation against him is still ongoing. Moreover, the police officials seized seven oxygen flow meters from his store and confiscated them. Furthermore, they registered a case under Section 420, 188, 51 / B Disaster Management Act of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused.
