An elderly man was dragged along a platform by a moving train in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

CCTV footage from July 2 caught the moment the 60-year-old passenger was almost sucked underneath the train.

A member of staff at the north Indian station managed to pull the man named Puran Lal Rajput away from the train.

Fortunately, Rajput only suffered minor injuries.

A man's life was hanging by a thread when he had a death-like experience in northern India's Uttar Pradesh on July 2. The incident took place in Prayagraj.

CCTV footage features the elderly man hurriedly attempting to deboard the moving locomotive in broad daylight. Unfortunately, he slips while getting down and gets dragged along with the running train while he desperately attempts to cling onto the gate to save his life. However, his life fades in front of his eyes when he loses his grip from the handle of the gate, slides down, and falls in the gap between the platform and the moving compartments. Luckily, alert railway personnel rushes and pulls him to safety while the passenger remains motionless out of fear.

In the life-saving act, the on-duty Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable, Dinesh Rai, showed vigilance and rescued the 60-year-old passenger, identified as Puran Lal Rajput, when he ended up missing his step and had slid down from the gap between the platform and the moving train.

Nevertheless, the passengers in the train immediately pulled the chain to help Puran Lal while the officials kept a check on him and provided him proper treatment as he sustained some minor injuries. After a while, he was asked to board the train, following which he revealed that he had no intention of going back. He came with his daughter and had to use the washroom, owing to which he went inside the stationed compartment of another locomotive. Unfortunately, the train began to move, and he lost balance and fell dangerously close to the tracks. Luckily, the RPF saved his life, and he went home with his daughter.
