Mall ceiling collapses under weight of rain in eastern China
A ceiling collapsed at a shopping mall in eastern China due to a heavy rainstorm.
The video, shot in the city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province on July 16, shows rain leaking into the Daruifa Shopping Mall through the roof and the ceiling suddenly collapsing when an employee was trying to use a plastic cloth to cover the items on shelves.
The employee then used her hands to cover her head to run out of the store.
The rainfall leaking out of the roof may have caused the ceiling to collapse. No one was injured.
The shop was closed for internal rectification and experts in architecture were hired to assess the safety of the building on July 17.
