Under sunny skies, members of the US Coast Guard investigated a mystery boat that washed ashore Tuesday in Delray Beach, Florida. Beachgoers watched as the Coast Guardsmen removed trash, fuel canisters and other items from the boat late this afternoon. Delray Beach Ocean Rescue and local police were also on the scene.

A local official said the Coast Guard intercepted the boat at sea and found no one on board. They painted OK on the hull to indicate that no one was on board and the boat didn't pose a danger. At this point in their investigation, the Coast Guard does not know who was on the boat or what it was being used for. It may have been drifting in the Gulf Stream for a while before landing on Delray Beach's public beach.

After the fuel is removed, the boat will likely be demolished and disposed of.
