A dog was rescued after locals noticed it stranded in the middle of a stream after heavy rain in Thailand.

The stray dog barking for help in the middle of the water following a monsoon season downpour in Surat Thani province.

Onlooker Nittha Madon Jantarathip was visiting the area on a hiking trip when she heard the male Aspin breed of dog.

Her friend waded through the stream and reached out her hand out to save it. However, the terrified pooch kept barking and even snapped at its rescuer in fear.

Video shows the woman wading through the water and trying to pacify the crying mutt. She can be seen patting the dog’s head to calm it down before slowly lifting it out and carrying it to safety.

Nittha said: ‘The dog was barking because he was scared. My friend made sure he felt safe and rescued him.’
