Bear rescued after nearly 7-hour-long operation in eastern India

A bear that got stuck in a dried-up drain got rescued in eastern India's Odisha on April 28. The incident took place in the B Pindapadar village, located in the Borigumma region of the Koraput District.

Visuals feature the officials using a rope to pull the distressed mammal out of the gutter and drag it to the back of a vehicle. Meanwhile, some men create a boundary using a net if the bear attempts to run.

Talking to Newslions Media, Deputy Range Forest Officer, Jeypore range, Rama Chandra Nepak, expressed that they received a call early in the morning that a bear had strayed into the village. Following this, they arrived at the spot with a wildlife squad and initiated the rescue.

After hours of effort, the bear was finally rescued around 1 in the afternoon, following which it was rushed to medical attention. Moreover, Nepak revealed that the mammal was comparatively calm after it was tended to and is currently undergoing treatment. Furthermore, it will be released post-recovery, which is expected to take nearly three days.
