A kitten was rescued after getting stuck inside a car engine while looking for shelter from a storm.

The feline was separated from its mother and had been sleeping in front of a gas station in Khon Kaen province, Thailand. On April 30, it jumped inside a parked vehicle when the owner pulled over to refuel during a tropical rain storm.

When the driver returned to his car, he heard the cat crying but could not find it until he found the cat inside the engine upon reaching home.

The next day, he went to the local rescuer’s office where volunteers helped take the cat out.

Driver Warnsit Sittigone, 45, said: ‘I tried to pull it on my own but the cat could not find its way out. I asked the rescuers for help and I’m glad they were willing to lend a hand.’

The team planned to use the equipment they have been using to catch snakes but worried that the cat would be hurt by the noose. Instead, they used a machine to lift the car up and opened the car from underneath before pulling the cat out.

They were able to take the kitten stuck. It was unhurt and adopted by the car owner who named it Bun Salit.
