Floods due to rising sea levels or rob hit the Tanjung Emas port area, Semarang, Central Java on Monday (23/5) afternoon.
The brunt of the water was exacerbated by the broken embankment in the area. As a result, the activities of employees in companies around the port had to be stopped.

The police also evacuated all employees in the area. Director of Polair Polda Central Java Kombes Hariadi said one of the companies affected was PT Lamicitra.

Since this afternoon, there have been no reports of casualties due to this disaster. However, the police noted that several female employees fainted during the evacuation process.

"The evacuation was carried out using 2 rubber boats and a number of life vests carried out in synergy from Semarang Polrestabes officers, Polair, BPBD, and related stakeholders," Hariadi told reporters.

Meanwhile, the KPTE Police Chief AKP Firdahus Yudhatama explained that the tidal flood hit the area at around 14:10 WIB.

According to police information, the tidal flood became severe due to the breach of the barrier levee in the area, causing water to enter the port area.

"At 14:10 WIB, we received information from Ronedi as the head of security in the bonded area of PT. Lamicitra informing that the boundary wall between the bonded area of PT. Lamicitra and the river or sea was damaged so that sea water entered the bonded area of Lamicitra," said Firdahus.

After that, the police also coordinated with the bonded area manager to optimize the use of pumping machines.

However, he said, the water was getting higher until it was decided to evacuate the workers. Police records, as many as 600 employees were evacuated. Then, eight thousand families were affected by this tidal flood.

The water level from day to night has had its ups and downs. Initially, the water flooded the area about 1.5 meters. However, since this afternoon the water level had reached 2 meters.

"Road users who pass around the Tanjung Emas Port Area are advised to be careful when driving. Traffic in the port area is experiencing congestion," he said.

The video was recorded by an employee named Vista 28 years old who is in the company
