Kind residents helped their neighbours cross a flooded street by using monobloc chairs as a makeshift bridge.

Footage shows how the stranded locals walked across the plastic seats like stepping stones to escape the shin-deep floodwater in Paranaque City in Metro Manila on May 15.

Onlooker Lorabell Salgon said the area suffered flooding after a heavy tropical rain storm.

She added: 'I'm glad our neighbours are so kind. They gave their all so we wouldn't be stranded in the flood.'

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
