This smart pet dog helped its owner dig his stuck tractor out of a muddy field in Thailand.

Footage shows the intelligent pooch named Yian, 1, diligently scraping muck from the vehicle's wheels after it stalled in the ankle-deep quagmire in Nakhon Si Thammarat province on June 2.

Despite the tough task, loyal Yian is seen soldiering on without taking a break.

Owner Ok Anon said: 'My dog is very smart. I feel like he understands what's happening even if he can't talk.'

The field was flooded and muddy following a recent heavy rain storm. The country is at the start of its annual tropical monsoon rainy season, which last until late November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
