This is the heartwarming moment a rescue team saved a runaway dog stuck in a swamp.

The distressed brown canine had fled during the Loi Krathong Festival as fireworks and firecrackers lit up the sky and emitted loud noises in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on November 16.

Footage shows the seemingly tired dog wading through the wetland. Upon spotting the pooch, one of the rescuers crosses into the water with a red rope in hand to retrieve the animal.

He first gained the dog's trust by petting it before placing the leash on it and carrying it out of the water, where another man gently helped pull the dog out.

Local reports said that the dog did not sustain any serious injuries. The pet owner was then contacted and informed that their dog had been found.

Dogs are afraid of fireworks as they perceive the noises and flashes of light as a threat, triggering their fight-or-flight response. With their superior sense of hearing, they can hear higher frequencies and sounds from greater distances than humans.
