Wild monkey steals rubber weather strip from pickup truck stuck in traffic
A wild monkey stole a rubber weather strip from a pickup truck while it was waitin in traffic in Thailand.
The destructive primate was recorded by motorists stopped at a level crossing in the notorious Lopburi province - home to thousands of the unruly wild creatures - on June 19.
Footage shows the animal climbing onto the vehicle's roof before grabbing the rubber strip. It then yanked the protective seal from the car just as the crossing barrier lifted.
The monkey jumped down and returned to its troop who were milling about on the roadside.
Thailand has been battling to control their surging monkey population before the pandemic started two years ago. Officials had even begun sterilising large numbers of primates.
There are believed to be more than 10,000 monkeys living in the centre of Lopburi, but only 900 of them have been sterilised as of 2020, local media said.
