Russian tourist falls to death from mall in southern Thailand
A Russian tourist was found dead after plunging from a mall in southern Thailand today.
Roman Shubenin, 31, was found lifeless outside the Central Phuket mall in Phuket at around 8:50 AM on April 27.
Security officers found his corpse just before store hours, and notified mall staff and passers-by outside the building about the grim discovery.
Police Lieutenant Wutichai Chanpai, deputy inspector of the Vichit Police Station, and Police Colonel Chatri Chukaew, station superintendent, went to inspect the scene.
They found Roman lying face down with a broken right arm and his head cracked open on the pavement. His body was taken to the Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy.
Police said they will be checking the shopping mall's surveillance footage.
The Russian Embassy has been contacted to inform Roman's family of his death and to prepare for the repatriation of his body.
