Rocket debris from a Buddhist festival fell to the ground and exploded outside homes, injuring three residents.

CCTV footage shows the fireball blasting into a parked motorcycle where men stood nearby on a street in Amnat Charoen province, Thailand, on July 4.

The locals quickly fled upon spotting the burning debris but still sustained wounds from the explosion.

The rocket was reportedly lit for a religious ceremony in a nearby district. The event's organisers said they contacted the insurance company to pay for the damages and medical expenses of those affected.

Thailand's Rocket Festival is held annually to honour Phaya Thaen, the Buddhist deity of rainmaking, as farmers and villagers pray for rain for a bountiful harvest. They believe the rockets will reach the clouds and help to stimulate impending monsoon downpours, which last until October or November.
