A girl's wrist was strangled by a dog leash that got trapped in the elevator doors in southern China.

Terrifying CCTV footage filmed in Dongguan City in Guangdong Province on August 17 shows a girl, carrying parcels, entering an elevator with her pet dog in tow.

However, the dog dashed out just as the elevator doors were shutting. With the leash still looped around the girl's wrist, the elevator began its ascent, tightening its grip and leaving her unable to free herself.

With panic evident in her eyes, she can be heard desperately calling out for her mother and frantically trying to press the elevator buttons, but they were just out of reach.

Luckily, a safety mechanism detected the irregularity and stopped the elevator. On-board cameras relayed the alarming scene to building management.

Swiftly alerted to the emergency, elevator technicians raced against time to reach the scene. The technicians acted promptly, cutting off the elevator's power and eventually freeing the young girl from her perilous situation.

Miraculously, the young girl's wrist was left unharmed, and the dog was also found to be safe.
