Thousands of Freshers hit Birmingham's Broad Street after being dropped off at University by their parents just hours before.

The first year students took advantage of the dry weather on Saturday 16 September night, before storms are predicted on Sunday and Monday.

Many of the University starters enjoyed their night out on ‘Welcome Weekend’ without having to worry about coming home to their parents.

This resulted in several being cared for by newly formed friends and ambulances were called for others who had a little too much fun compared to others.

West Midlands Police were filmed responding to various incidents over the course of the evening as tempers flared.

Many of the revellers tucked into takeaways on the infamous Midlands nightclub strip as the evening turned into the early hours of Sunday morning.

Nightclubs Heidi's and Rosies were both packed out with Rosies hosting a 'Freshers Takeover' event.

Freshers Week is attended by tens of thousands of students across Birmingham giving the young partygoers a look into the nightlife of the city and forming bonds that could last a lifetime.
