TikTok held a physical market for its star live-stream sellers in Thailand.

The first TikTok Market featuring 10 booths was held in CentralWorld in Bangkok, Thailand from August 24 to 31.

Organisers said the market showcased a variety of culinary offerings, ranging from beverages and desserts to fast food.

Live stream selling is a rapidly growing e-commerce format in China, where it is re-shaping the economy.

Revenue reached RMB 1.2 trillion (US$180 billion) in 2022, according to a report by iResearch Consulting. It is expected to further grow to RMB 4.9 trillion (US$720 billion) in 2023, accounting for 11.7 percent of total e-commerce sales in the country.

It runs parallel with the rise of social media platforms as Taobao Live, Kuaishou, and Douyin.

The format is similar to home-shopping channels, that began in the United States in the 1970s. However, live streaming selling offers a more unscripted, personal interaction with influencers who can interact with their viewers in real time through speech, video calls and messages.
