Truck crashes into 13 vehicles in Indonesia, three killed
An accident involving 14 vehicles has occurred at the Bawen Toll Exit, Semarang City, Central Java Province, Indonesia.
CCTV footage on the site shows, the accident occurred this afternoon, Saturday (23/9/2023).
The truck with registration number AD 8911 IA from north to south and hit four cars and nine motorcycles.
Additional footage show the vehicles involved in the accident appeared to be destroyed and on fire.
High Commissioner Police Satake Bayu Setianto, public relations officer for the Central Java Regional Police, confirmed that three people had died in the accident and nine others were still being treated in hospital.
According to him, the accident was allegedly caused by the truck's brakes failing while driving downhill.
"The truck with registration number AD 8911 IA was travelling from north to south and hit four cars and nine motorcycles," Commissioner Bayu said.
As of 21:00 local time, police were still evacuating victims and vehicles involved in the accident.
