A fortune teller was shocked to see a wild monitor lizard on the CCTV wandering around her bedroom while she was away for work.

Muttamon Prakhunhangsit, who gives life predictions using tarot cards, failed to foresee the reptile slipping through the door cat hole and raiding her property in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 28.

Footage shows the animal crawling across the room as it searched for food and trying to climb the wall where there is a mirror.

Muttamon, whose customers called Milky, said she thought stray cats made the mess in the kitchen until she checked the recordings in the security camera and revealed the animal.

She said: ‘My cats' food bowl was in disarray. I thought a stray feline could have done it, but we saw a muddy trail, and my boyfriend realised they were from a lizard.'

She confirmed it with the CCTV and fled to the car with her cats while her boyfriend searched for the animal.

However, it had already escaped to the back of the house. No one was hurt nor severely damaged by the lizard.

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by hu,mans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
