A pickup truck drifted sideways and flipped over on a road in Thailand.

Footage shows the vehicle carrying a large cargo on its back swerving before toppling over in Pathum Thani province on November 25.

Traffic officers who were in the area rushed to check on the driver. One of the truck's tires reportedly detached causing it to lose control along the motorway.

Onlooker Songchai Nasaeng, whose car dashcam recorded the crash, said: 'It was caused by the wheel .'

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
