Wild monkey attacks motorcycle rider and steals his durian
A wild monkey attacked a motorcycle rider and stole his pack of durians.
The rogue primate pounced on Krissada Kamthet, 37, while he was waiting at an intersection. It jumped on the back of his two-wheeler to snatch his fruit in Lopburi province, Thailand on June 1.
Footage shows the aftermath of the commotion as Krissada was fixing his green scooter back up after it fell over with him when the animal came for his food.
The monkey was seen wandering the middle of traffic clutching the packed durian, which Krissada said he bought for 350 baht (7.51 GBP) for his wife, before it fled off to the side of the road.
Krissada said: ‘I thought I was careful but I was still caught off guard by the monkey. I missed out on my durian and now have to deal with my wounds.'
His arm was bitten by the animal so he drove to a hospital where it had to be stitched by a doctor.
He added: ‘I attempted to fend off the monkey with my hand but I was bitten on the arm. I lost control of the vehicle and crashed.'
The monkey even took bites of the durian in front of the injured motorist.
Krissada said: ‘I am a local in Lopburi but these things still happen to me.'
Lopburi has become a popular tourist destination because of its large population of monkeys. The monkeys are mostly long-tailed macaques, and they can be found all over the city, from the temples to the streets.
However, they can also be aggressive, and they have been known to steal food and belongings.
