Trouser snake! Rescuers remove cobra that slithered into man's PANTS while he slept
A builder woke up with a real-life trouser snake - when a cobra slithered into his pants.
The construction worker, 25, was sleeping on the concrete floor of a ramshackle home near the site when he felt movement in his groin in Rayong, eastern Thailand.
Despite being paralysed with fear, he managed to remain calm and called the emergency services, who dispatched a reptile handler to remove the serpent from his boxer shorts.
The rescue team received the bizarre request and arrived at the scene, where they found the man, Myat Zaw, lying on a bed with his legs askew.
The terrified resident, from Yangon, Myanmar, dared not move fearing the cobra would strike his family jewels if disturbed.
As the volunteers prepared to extract the cobra, they told him: 'Please remain as still as possible. Do not move while it is slithering. You will be safe for sure. Do not move even after it is pulled out.'
They then used a hook, gently lifting the side of his boxers, before tugging out the 5ft long trouser snake seen rearing its head after being roused.
The cobra was then placed inside a sack and removed from the house following the incident close to midnight on June 8.
Snake handler Kriangkrai Wongwiwatpong, who recorded the dramatic video, said: 'Cobras are very deadly. Just a small dose of their venom can be dangerous.
'I was impressed that the guy stayed calm. Most people panic when they see a snake.
'This cobra may have been wandering around looking for a heat source, and happened to slither into the man's boxers for warmth.'
Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
