A policeman saved a pet dog that passersby noticed was locked inside a hot car as temperatures approached 30C in Florida.

Sergeant Bordin responded to a call from concerned locals about a pooch seen crying inside a parked van without its owners in Bradenton, Florida on July 8.

The cop said before breaking the window: ‘I know buddy I'm going to get you out. You're hot in there I get it. You got a leash?'

He then said ‘Back up buddy,' to the dog before shattering the glass. He calmed the canine which approached him. The pooch was friendly towards the officer and climbed out.

Officers gave the dog some water which it drank before it was taken to the police car. They brought the dog under the care of animal services while investigations are ongoing.
