A resident was seen chilling on a sofa as it floated along a flooded street.

The local threw the airbed into the 2ft (0.6 metre) deep deluge and put a two-seater on top of it to ride in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on October 5.

Footage shows the woman relaxing on her bizarre DIY vessel with an umbrella to give her shade.

She scrolled on her phone while cruising on the furniture, enjoying the sun after the storm.

Neighbour Marcel Tredoux said: ‘Our house was flooded, and the lovely woman was making the most of the situation. She went for a little cruise on her mattress and couch.'

Marcel added the woman wanted to survey the damage in their village.

He said: ‘She aimed to look for damage left by the floods in our area.'

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
