On September 26, in Huangshi, Hubei, a 5-year-old girl was accidentally trapped under an SUV while crossing a street in a residential area. In a critical moment, more than 20 passersby quickly rushed to lift the vehicle together, successfully rescuing the girl.

Surveillance footage shows the girl suddenly darting out between parked cars and running onto the road. At that moment, an SUV, unable to notice her in time, accidentally struck her and trapped her underneath. The girl’s left hand and shoulder were pinned tightly under the vehicle’s wheel, putting her in a life-threatening situation.

Realising the danger, nearby residents and passersby rushed to the scene. Within just one minute, over 20 bystanders gathered to help. To avoid causing further injury to the girl, they worked together to lift the SUV and free her.

Since the SUV weighed nearly 2 tons, their first attempt to lift it was unsuccessful. After several adjustments in positioning and distributing their strength, they managed to lift the vehicle on the fourth try and rescue the trapped girl. A police officer passing by immediately contacted the 110 command centre and arranged for a nearby police car to rush the girl to the hospital.

Doctors later confirmed that the girl had sustained extensive abrasions to her left hand but was fortunate to have no fractures or internal injuries. After two weeks of recovery, the girl is expected to be discharged from the hospital this week.

In gratitude for the heroic efforts of the bystanders and the swift assistance of the police, the girl’s parents placed drinks and snacks at the entrance of the residential area along with a thank-you note. They also presented a banner to the police officers who helped take the girl to the hospital, expressing their heartfelt appreciation.
